“It deeply saddens me that I have come to report today of another serious crash in the Wide Bay Burnett involving children without a licence, driving a vehicle without permission, causing serious trauma to a number of families,’’ Inspector Paul Algie from Queensland Police told media on Friday.
“In a tragic set of circumstances this has occurred on the third anniversary of what became known as the triple fatal in Maryborough.
“On that fateful night, a child in a stolen vehicle killed three people on the Hervey Bay to Maryborough Road.
“That sent shockwaves through this community which are still felt to this day.’’
A 58-year-old Wondunna woman, a passenger in the Suzuki, sustained minor injuries and was transported to Hervey Bay Hospital as a precaution.
The driver of the Kona, a 40-year-old Eli Waters man, sustained leg injuries and a 2-year-old boy and a 40-year-old Eli Waters woman also in the vehicle sustained minor injuries.
