Activists Describe Abuses After Israeli Forces Storm Aid Flotilla

Activists who were sailing in a flotilla bound for Gaza have accused the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) of violent abuse after the IDF stormed 22 vessels in international waters and captured around 175 crew members. Footage released by the Global Sumud Flotilla shows some of the activists on a bus after all but two of them were released in Greece on Friday, May 1. The organization said its members were “punched, kicked, and dragged across the deck with their hands bound behind their backs” as they attempted to block Israeli forces from taking two activists to Israel for questioning. Some 22 boats carrying 175 people were attempting to reach Gaza where, since 2007, Israel has enforced a blockade that prohibits access by sea or air. Credit: Global Sumud Flotilla via Storyful
