Anti-Billionaire May Day Protesters Arrested Outside New York Stock Exchange

Several protesters were detained by police as they attempted to block entrances the New York Stock Exchange in Manhattan on Friday, May 1. Footage shared by Planet Over Profit (@pop4climate) shows demonstrators hitting a piñata with the Amazon logo on it, holding signs advocating for taxing the rich, and being detained by police as they attempted to chain themselves together and to fixtures at the entrances to the building. “The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) is the center of global billionaire wealth. That’s why we shut it down today, on May Day. Today, we celebrate and advance centuries of workers’ struggle with direct action targeting the people responsible for the crises we face,” the social media post said. “We’re fighting back against the billionaires torching our planet, terrorizing our communities, and impoverishing workers the world over. Join the fight.” Credit: Planet Over Profit (@pop4climate) via Storyful
