More than a dozen schoolchildren were left stranded on a ride at a Western Sydney school, following a malfunction which sparked a dramatic rescue.
More than a dozen people – including 16 schoolchildren – were left stranded after a ride at a school fete in Western Sydney malfunctioned, sparking a rescue effort.
Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) crews were called to Emmaus Catholic College at Kemps Creek after midday on Friday, finding the ride being stuck in a diagonal position.
The highest point was about 4m off the ground and firefighters had to use a ladder to safely remove those stranded on the ride.
“It’s a very lucky outcome. Fortunately everyone is OK,” Dylan Snape from NSW Ambulance told media.
FRNSW confirmed all 20 people were safely injured and no injuries were reported.
The ride will be handed over to SafeWork for an investigation, 7News reports.
